I developed this calculator with the aim to minimize the amount and cost of excess Xigris® produced when preparing a patient's Xigris® therapy. By deriving a more efficient algorithm, I was able to take the amount of excess Xigris® down to less than 3 mg for every patient and down to 0 mg for most patients.
A secondary goal was to broaden the calculatable weight range. The Dosing Table provided by Eli Lilly and Co. only covers patients that weigh 40 kg - 135 kg. My calculator covers patients that weigh 18 kg - 700 kg (40 lbs to 1540 lbs).
Lastly, this was an effort to make the manual calculations required for patients not on Lilly's Dosing Table as simple and time-efficient as possible. This was accomplished by requiring only one input from the user, namely the patient's weight (kg).
